CHINESE VOCAB
Do you want to walk into a Chinese restaurant and order, stress-free?
This is one of the most popular requests from the students on my online course speakeverydaychinese.com. Maybe that’s because it’s one of the first things you’ll need to do in China, or maybe it’s because you are all huge foodies, like me!
The only thing we struggle with is the language barrier. How do you order your favorite dish when the cheery server speaks not a word of English?
Don’t worry. I’ve got your back. Let’s learn to order Chinese food, stress-free.
It’s a little scary to talk with waiters in new restaurants. I get that. What if they speak super fast and you can’t understand? Or the phrase you’ve just practiced for an hour suddenly goes blank in your mind? What if you stumble over your words, or someone laughs at you?
Calm. Breathe. All of this might happen. And, that’s okay. It’s all in the learning process. Mistakes help you grow.
And, actually no one will laugh at you. Chinese people are so understanding and welcoming. They’ll love that you’re trying to communicate with them in Chinese, and often they’ll help you along the way.
