HSK 3 Listening Practice The Fun Way

February 3, 2020 By Kwadwo

TEST YOUR CHINESE

Do you want something way more fun than those boring textbooks? Tired of the standardized test-prep books? Me too! I’ve fallen in love with Mandarin Companion Graded Readers.

Get yourself the audio and a copy of the book and let’s dive right in.

Amazon Audible has a free 30-day trial, and lucky for you, this book is included. Sign-up now for full access to this book for 30 days. Or forever, if you decide Audible is life-changing and you choose to continue your membership. That totally didn’t happen to me, damn it Amazon and your convenient tools.

Graded Reader Stories

These interesting stories reinforce all of your HSK 3 vocabulary. It really doesn’t get any easier than this.

Mandarin Companion Graded Readers limit the number of characters in their stories. If you’re a beginner, you can read stories that are at your level. You should be able to understand most of the characters so that new vocabulary is easier to remember.

“Now you can read books in Chinese that are fun and accelerate your language learning. Every book in the Mandarin Companion series is carefully written to use characters, words, and grammar that the reader is likely to know.”

Level one is written using approximately 300 unique Chinese characters and intended for Chinese learners at an upper-elementary level. Most learners will be able to approach this book after one or two years of formal study, depending on the learner and their study.

Make Studying Easier & Fun

One problem for me when I took HSK lessons way back in the day was that the material is kinda boring. You’ve seen those HSK books, they ain’t fun. But, this kind of book has interesting stories.

Three great things about this book series:

  1. You can build your reading fluency up
  2. You can start to see and understand grammar naturally
  3. You’ll never waste time learning characters that are not important to your fluency at this stage of Chinese.

These are for HSK 3 aspirational learners. Meaning if you’re HSK 2 this is the right kinda book for you.

And, what I like is when they repeat a keyword they put a number under it. They’re reminding you, you already learned this, go back and find it, look at the meaning and come back and keep reading. That’s powerful.
